Fujita celebrates Birthday, Akamatsu speaks, Minekawa in LR + MORE
March 26, 2007

- PWC World Heavyweight Champion Kazuma Fujita today spent what is his 42nd birthday from the burn ward at Tokyo University Hospital, after suffering that horrendous attack at the hands of the dastardly gaijin, James Goodwin. Fujita met reporters for the first time since 3.24 with his right eye heavily bandaged in medical gauze.

Fujita announced that he had only suffered minor burns to the right side of his face, but said that it was feared that his cornea had been scarred from the fireball thrown from Goodwin. Fujita said that despite it being his birthday, he was in no mood to celebrate, and declared that revenge was on his mind. President Toriyama Akamatsu soon arrived to the hospital, and said that he wished Fujita a Happy Birthday, even under these circumstances. In regards to Goodwin's horrendous attack, Akamatsu told the press that "disciplinary measures" would be taken, and that Goodwin will be removed from the upcoming tour... However, Fujita cut him off, and said that he wanted no action to be taken against Goodwin, and said that the only way for him to get satisfaction was to meet Goodwin inside of the ring... Akamatsu said that under good conscious, he couldn't let Goodwin go without being reprimanded. Fujita begged Akamatsu, even as a Birthday present, to allow he and Goodwin to face each other in the ring. President Akamatsu looked very worried as he thought about it, but he finally relented, and said if it was what Fujita wanted, he would agree to it.

On his title defense against Tatsumichi Akamatsu, Fujita said that Akamatsu was just as strong as he anticipated, and even went as far as to say that without Akamatsu injuring his leg, he may not have won the match. He said that he was confident Akamatsu would rebound from the loss, and challenge for the title again soon.

- Speaking of which, Tatsumichi Akamatsu spoke to reporters after leaving the Keio University Hospital. Akamatsu congratulated Fujita for his win, and called Fujita a "strong warrior", and said that he was satisfied, knowing he gave Fujita everything he had. On the condition of his right knee, Akamatsu said with some rest, he will recovery quickly. He ended by stating that he would rededicate himself to his team with Makoto Tachibana.
